Leak Detection Services

What We Offer

At Dunny Divers Plumbing, our team brings professional, reliable experience detecting water, sewer gas, natural gas, and carbon monoxide leaks using industry-standard tools and careful plumbing investigation. We combine technology with hands-on inspection to find the source of problems quickly and to determine whether the plumbing itself is contributing to or creating the risk.

Water leak detection (infrared cameras)

  • We use infrared thermal imaging cameras to locate hidden water leaks behind walls, under floors, and in ceilings. Thermal cameras reveal temperature differences caused by moisture, allowing us to pinpoint leak locations without destructive exploratory cuts.

  • Infrared is especially effective for slab leaks, ceiling/attic leaks, and slow leaks inside walls. Our technicians interpret thermal patterns alongside moisture meters and visual checks to confirm the presence of water and to identify the most likely point of origin.

  • After detection, we document findings and recommend targeted repairs or further invasive investigation only when necessary.

Sewer gas detection (smoke testing / smoke bombs)

  • To detect sewer gas intrusion or venting problems, we perform controlled smoke testing. We introduce non-toxic smoke into the sewer or vent system and observe for smoke escaping from traps, cleanouts, fixtures, or cracks that indicate breaches, missing trap seals, or improper venting.

  • Smoke testing quickly reveals defects such as dry traps, broken sewer lines, uncapped vents, or faulty seals that let sewer gas enter living spaces. We record the escape points and provide actionable repair recommendations to eliminate the entry paths.

Natural gas leak detection (gas leak devices)

  • For natural gas (methane) leak detection we use calibrated combustible gas detectors and other dedicated gas leak devices to scan pipelines, fittings, meters, and appliances. These instruments detect even small gas concentrations and help us trace leaks to specific joints or components.

  • When a natural gas leak is suspected, we perform methodical checks of both interior piping and exterior lines (meter connections, service lines) following safety protocols. If a hazardous leak is confirmed, we take immediate safety steps, notify the customer, and coordinate with utility providers as needed.

Carbon monoxide (CO) detection

  • We inspect for carbon monoxide hazards using professional CO detectors and by evaluating combustion appliances, venting, and flue systems. CO detectors measure parts-per-million concentrations, allowing us to identify dangerous conditions before they become life-threatening.

  • Our checks include appliance combustion performance, vent blockages, improper installations, and signs of backdrafting. Where elevated CO levels or appliance issues are found, we advise corrective actions and can recommend qualified HVAC or appliance technicians if specialized repairs are required.

Plumbing condition assessment and installation review

  • In every leak investigation we assess the plumbing system’s overall condition to determine whether age, corrosion, deteriorated materials, poor installation, or layout errors are causing or increasing leak risk.

  • We inspect pipe materials, joints, supports, slope, trap integrity, venting, and accessible fittings. For water leaks, we look for corrosion, pitting, or degraded seals; for sewer gas issues, we verify trap seals, vent connections, and sewer line integrity; for natural gas and CO risks, we evaluate pipe supports, flexible connector condition, appliance connections, and proper venting.

  • If plumbing is improperly installed—such as incorrect slope, inadequate supports, improper materials, or substandard connections—we document how these issues could lead to leaks or gas escape and provide prioritized repair options to prevent recurrence.

Reporting, documentation, and next steps

  • After detection and inspection we provide clear documentation of findings, including the leak location, cause analysis, risk level, and recommended repairs or further testing.

  • Our approach emphasizes targeted repairs when possible to minimize property disruption. When more extensive work is required, we provide transparent explanations and estimates so customers can make informed decisions.

Safety and professionalism

  • Safety is our priority. We follow industry best practices for gas leak response and CO hazards, using proper personal protective equipment and coordinating with utility companies when necessary.

  • As a family-owned Denver plumbing service, we deliver careful workmanship and straightforward communication to resolve leak problems and reduce future risk.

If you need a focused inspection or have a suspected water, sewer gas, natural gas, or carbon monoxide problem, we’ll deploy the right detection tools and examine the plumbing thoroughly to find the cause and recommend effective repairs.
